As Joel Piaskowski, Chief Designer at the Hyundai Kia Design said at the unveiling of the HCD8 Concept "The HCD8 is designed to be a high-performance daily driver," the 2009 Tiburon will be more aggressive and will look sportier than the current model. "The HCD8 is a conceptual design model used to evaluate the design, package and proportion of the next generation sports coupe. The HCD8 has graceful, flowing lines. The surfaces of the vehicle have the volume and shape to retain some classicism of a sports car. We also worked with surfaces and lines that stir the inner emotions of passion, romance and performance. We arranged the graphic components to signal strength, attitude and power."
There were rumors telling that the next Tiburon will go RWD (as the next Hyundai Genesis sedan), and this make sense since a increase of power will raise the power up to 200 hp, maybe to much for a FWD. This new RWD Coupe (if will be produced) will be a premium model aimed at luxury makes and is likely to be powered by a V8 engine ([COLOR=Red]with an output of more than 300 hp).
2010 Hyundai Tiburon
Under the hood of the next Tiburon you will probably see the same DOHC V6 engine that will be used in the Genesis sedan, but also there will be a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an output of 200 hp. The 2009 Tiburon will make the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 6.2 seconds and have a top speed of 155 mph.
